Sowing, Establishment & Maintenance Tips:

  • Optimum Soil Type: Sandy Loam. Ask your local soil supplier for a good quality lawn soil mix.
  • Starter Fertiliser: Use KickStart Starter Fertiliserto ensure successful germination.
  • Sowing: Follow our Sowing Instructions for best results.
  • Watering: For the first 30 days after seeding watering may be necessary 3-4 times a day. For best results seed bed should not be allowed to dry out.
  • Germination Time: In Optimal Conditions you may see germination in 7-10 days. Note: When sowing out of season this can take longer.
  • Mowing: First mow: When well established at around 40-50mm height.
  • Regular Fertilising: Follow our Fertilising Instructionsto ensure your lawn stays healthy throughout the seasons including Autumn and Spring fertilising.

When is the best time for sowing Cool Cover Ryegrass seed? 
Sow in Autumn for cover in Winter months. 

Can I use this to oversow my warm season lawn ahead of winter? 
Yes, Cool Cover Annual Ryegrass is ideal for oversowing buffalo, couch and kikuyu lawns ahead of their winter dormancy.  This will keep them looking green and actively growing throughout cold weather. 

Will this Annual Ryegrass die out? 
Cool Cover Annual Ryegrass will fade out when hot weather arrives. We recommend a low mow when the warm weather starts and dormancy of the warm season grass breaks. There will be a transition period when the warm season lawn begins to grow and dominate. 

Where is the best location for this seed? 
Sow in locations with cold winters.
