Winter has arrived, but that doesn't mean your lawn maintenance should go into hibernation. While growth slows down across most of Australia, the colder months are a critical time for protection, weed prevention, and strategic sowing.

ESSENTIAL WINTER LAWN MAINTENANCE TIPS

  • Mowing Heights: Raise your mower blades. Longer leaf blades allow for more photosynthesis during shorter, cloudier days.
  • Watering: Reduce frequency as rain increases and days cool.
  • Drainage: Keep an eye on boggy areas. Soil compaction is common in winter, consider aerating if your lawn feels waterlogged.
  • Overseeding /New Lawns:  Use our tips below for choosing the right seed in winter.

YOUR WINTER LAWN TO-DO LIST

1. Strategic Fertilising: If your grass is still showing signs of life, give it a boost.  Use Nitro Green Iron Boost Fertiliser. It’s designed to work in low temperatures, delivering deep green colour.

2. Pest Protection: Don't let grubs ruin your spring. Apply Acelepryn now to provide long term protection.

3. The "All in One" problem solver: If you have a Couch, Kikuyu, or Buffalo lawn, Echelon Duo is a winter essential. It controls Wintergrass and pests while providing a light fertiliser treatment.

4. Weed Warfare: Use Poachek to stop Wintergrass while it’s actively growing. For existing broadleaf weeds, Bow & Arrow or Contra M Duo are the professional's choice for a clean kill without harming your turf.
