VICTORIA:

It’s often a slower start to the warmer season in Victoria.  Buy your bulk lawn seed and wait until there’s more warmth in the soil following winter.  In Victoria you can choose Warm or Cool season grasses.  If you choose a cool season mix ensure you plant it with enough time for it to establish before the hot summer weather arrives, otherwise the young plant will struggle.  If you want to sow a warm season grass, wait until the summer weather has arrived to sow so that they are germinating at the optimum time.  Warm season grasses need very warm soil to take off.  CLICK HERE TO VIEW VICTORIA RECOMMENDATIONS

QUEENSLAND:

In cooler, hillier regions of Queensland it's possible to sow cool season grasses.  Choose a warm season grass like a couch or kikuyu if you're north of Brisbane and have a mostly hot climate year round.  These grasses will cope with the consistently warm/hot weather and still look green.  NSW/ACT:

In the warmer northern areas of the state choose a warm season grass that can tolerate consistent hot temperatures.  Couchgrasses and Kikuyu will be the ticket.  Further south you can use a cool season variety or a blend of the two.  CLICK HERE TO VIEW NSW/ACT RECOMMENDATIONS.

 SOUTH AUSTRALIA:

In South Australia you can choose Warm or Cool Season grasses.  Just be sure to plant early enough for good establishment before the heat!  Keep water to your Cool Season grasses over summer to keep them lush.  CLICK HERE TO VIEW SOUTH AUSTRALIA RECOMMENDATIONS.

 TASMANIA:

In Tasmania it's all about the Cool Season grasses!  Choose a Cool Season lawn and avoid blends that include couchgrasses.  You can sow these as soon as there is warmth in the soil for germination.
