Suggested Seed for Spring in Queensland

Date: 31-08-2023

As the days get longer and the weather warms up, it's time to prepare your lawn for a spectacular spring! For Queenslanders, spring brings the perfect conditions for growth, but also a few unique challenges.

LAWN SOWING TIPS

Spring is "go-time" for lawns in Queensland. With more frequent irrigation, you can sow cool/warm season blends. Need more drought tolerance? Stick to straight Couch & Kikuyu. After the cooler months, your turf is ready to burst into life. It's the ideal time for new growth, recovery from winter dormancy, and setting the stage for resilience against the summer heat.

ESSENTIAL SPRING LAWN CARE TIPS FOR QUEENSLAND:

To ensure your lawn thrives this spring, follow these crucial steps:

  1. Fertilise TWICE in Spring: This is non-negotiable for a healthy QLD lawn! Fertilising in early and late spring provides the necessary nutrients for strong growth, vibrant color, and improved resilience. Consider an Earthway Spreader for easy and even application.
  2. Deal with Weeds & Pests Proactively:
    • Pests: Apply Acelepryn now to prevent destructive pests from taking hold. This is especially important as pest activity increases with the warmer weather.
    • Weeds: Tackle weeds that emerged over winter. For Buffalo lawns, use Bow and Arrow, a highly effective herbicide. For cool season lawns, Ravage is an excellent choice. Choose a herbicide from our range.
  3. Improve Soil Health:
    • Wetting Agents: Queensland soils, particularly those compacted by heavy rains or traffic, can benefit from a granular wetting agent like "Wett Up". This improves water penetration and retention, making your watering more effective.
  4. Consider Lawn Alternatives:
    • Dichondra: If you're looking for a low-maintenance lawn alternative, Dichondra is an excellent choice, offering a lush, carpet-like appearance.
